In the bible book of Timothy, Apostle Paul, at one point advised the his ailing assistant, Timothy, that he could indeed take a little alcohol for its medicinal value. I have heard many people, lost in alcohol and enslaved to daily drinking habits that are no longer controllable, deduce that the bible permits alcoholism, which indeed they are fulfilling. I call this human response to mountains they have created out of hills that have since become too big for them to comprehend how to control.
In Timothy 6:9 the good Apostle Paul, sets stage for the corruption in the mind that lead men to stick their faith in greed. He says and i quote, " that people who want to get rich fall into temptations and a trap and into many harmful desires...." It is note worthy that these people were at one stage noble, before letting their minds onto another drive - the social drive to take control.
Back to the subject of money and many similar lines can be drawn. Many broke people, have plenty of excuses for looking for more money including doing everything illicit to make that extra money. Immediately they actually get them money, they move full swing into another set of destructive habits that sway away the money, something a guy who worked hard at creating his wealth would not have room in his mind to accommodate. No wonder the wealthy people carry themselves very humbly that we imagine they came from another planet.
Money is a seed, not food. If you use it well, it will take care of your desires and offer you some really good quality life. If you do not use it well, it will enable the cementing of the reverse set of habits in your daily life that will sure walk you to hell on earth. Money does not make an alcoholic, or a maniac of any type. It merely gives the maniac the power to exercise what is in their mind in real life. You already were these many things in your mind. Money merely made it possible to move from thinking into practice and express your inner desires as behaviours.
You can be very wealthy and still keep your mind under your control. You can be very poor too, and still keep your mind under control. Everyone made by God's work has five drives as part of the package God delivered here as a baby; a tri-une baby made of body, souls and spirit, all operating together as one. The drive for thirst, so you will need air, water and food and an exit mechanism to remove the excess. The social drive, and therefore you will naturally desire to love and to be loved back. The drive for worship and therefore you will either worship God or something created among other drives.
It is in the exercise of these drives that each person makes choices and carries the effects. The ability to make whatever choice is available to everyone by God's gift of the mind given at birth, except for the influences of your environment of upbringing cause into your mind in early childhood. In effect, two seven year old children will not make similar choices when exposed to a similar environment, because their respective parents made deposits of values and beliefs in their minds that have shaped how they perceive their world , the eventual choices they make and practice they get older. For example a child raised in an environment with little, soon adjusts to live on little at a time, but that does not take away the desire for big things. He or she can change freely when abundance is made available or they can remain the of same attitude in the presence of abundance. The ability to change or to remain the same in the presence of little or abundance is driven by the state of the mind as defined by personal level values and beliefs and later influenced by opinions of the people around you.
It is deplorable that a normal adult has such little understanding of what goes on in their minds and which they eventually express as daily behaviours. That people, young and old do not find their behaviours out of line enough to make inquiry is worrying. For example, that one would expect to be rich, by mere access to large cash flow is a common reasoning flow among people, who live among other people that make investments and grow money as they see.
More and more people are chasing moving shadows in the form of explosive life styles, financed by temporary streams of cash flow as opposed to deploying these cash flow to create an expanding life style as income expands. I dare you to check out your friends who are active in phone based gambling, and you will find some strings to that behaviour tying it back to their parenting and especially parental values with respect to money and wealth.
The causes to this type of thinking and action gap lie deep in the minds of the people, allowing the social drive to express itself in the form of explosive money enabled choices and patterns. It is the love of money, not money that drive people to do evil things.
